We are super excited this week to be releasing new colourways!  Our inspiration comes from all the beautiful spring and autumn colours that appear this time of year (depending on what hemisphere you live in!).  We have developed a mix of speckled and tonal, lights and darks.  You can mix and match a lot of these colourways which would be perfect for colourwork pullovers or fun shawls.  What's even better is that all of the colourways have been dyed on our affordable and versatile Everyday Sock.  We have also included a lot of our popular regular colourways in this update as well.  The main picture above is one of our new colourways called Secrets. All of our new colourways can be seen on our Colourways page.

 

Yarn On Tap!  Custom Dyed DK

Our Voyage DK is now available on tap, meaning it is ALWAYS available (yay!).  You choose the colourway and we'll dye it up for you.  Dyed to order takes around 2-3 weeks to ship and, if for some reason your yarn is going to take longer, we will email you.  You can choose from any of our current colourways here.  Perfect for buying sweater quantities and yarns for colourwork.

This week we are back from vacation. The studio is being set up, copious coffee is being drunk and lots of yarn is being dyed.  While we get back into the swing of things we thought that, in the meantime, we would have 'back to work' sale.  From now until the end of Sunday 13th October you can get 20% off all of our yarns by using the code: BACKTOWORK

Our Everyday Sock is back!  We are thrilled to have this lovely sock-weight yarn back in our shop.  The Everyday Sock base is a soft and squishy, 2-ply fingering weight yarn that is a blend of 80% Superfine Merino and 20% Nylon.  What is even better about this yarn is the price: $25 (around $17 USD) per 100g skein. 

So, why is it so much cheaper?  It was our decision to make this yarn more affordable. The cost has nothing to do with using less superior fibre, we just wanted to offer a yarn that more people could afford.  We chose this base as our budget option because it is so versatile: you can use it for socks, cardigans, tees, baby items - pretty much everything!  I promise you are going to love this base (we certainly do!).

Merino Silk Sport

This week, we have dyed up our Merino Silk Sport base.  This yarn is perfect for shawls and light drapey garments. It's very soft and feels cool next to the skin, making it perfect for spring/summer knits.  Merino Silk Sport is not just for adults either!  This week, Dani Sunshine is releasing a new kids pattern called Apple Tea which uses our Merino Silk Sport base.  The pattern is set to be released Friday!  We have nine colourways available, so check them out in the shop on Friday 9th August.

 

 

Daintree Pre Order

Also, this week we are offering pre orders of our Daintree base.  I recently used it to knit the Bloom Sweater by Jenise Hope (see below) which I highly recommend.  The yarn is a beautiful mix of Merino, Silk and Bamboo which lends itself to spring/summer knits.  It's great for summery tops and shawls; check out our pattern ideas below.  We will have eighteen colourways available for pre order. As always our pre-order yarns are only available for 24 hours, so don't delay getting your order in!

Due to popular demand, we are offering a second round of pre orders for our Mohair Silk Lace and Top Draw Sock yarns.  I recently finished a Love Note sweater by Tin Can Knits and LOVED working with these two yarns.  I used Arctic Moss for the sock yarn and Nordic Woodlands for the lace; the depth of colour was amazing. I have since worn this sweater many times, and love it so much that I am planning my second one.

There are so many patterns that use Mohair Silk Lace combined with a sock yarn; see below for a few ideas (each image is clickable).  The colourways available for pre order are also pictured below, all of which can be ordered on both bases.  Yarns will be available in the shop Friday 2nd August at 9am AEST.  Please remember pre orders are only available for 24 hours, so don't forget to get your order in before you miss out!

This Friday we will be introducing a new yarn club featuring our most luxurious yarn base, Merino Cashmere Fingering.  This yarn is a beautiful blend of extra-fine merino and cashmere, making it perfect for creating super-soft shawls and garments.

We will be offering four club tiers, meaning you can order either 1, 2, 3 or 4 skeins per month depending on whether you plan to knit socks, shawls or sweaters!  The colurways for this club will be chic and subtle, with just a dash of speckles and, of course, all colours will not be repeatable.

Our Luxury Club goes live Friday 12th July at 9am Sydney time.  Hope to see you there!

If you haven't already heard, we are vending at this year's Bendigo Sheep and Wool Show!  We will be bringing along our Top Draw Sock, El Merino sock, Bliss DK and Winter Worsted yarns, all dyed up in our new colourways.  We will also have a special Bendigo show colourway.  I'll be posting more about our journey and time in Bendigo on our Instagram page.  If you are going, please stop by and say hi.  Our booth will be located in the Oval pavilion, number 406; we would love to meet you! 

Often in the studio we have leftover, undyed yarn that we use to try new colourway ideas or dye techniques.  The formula for the colourways are never written down, and therefore cannot be repeated.  A lot of the colours are bright and multicoulored, some are semi-solid or tonal and, as there are never more than two dyed at a time, all of them are 100% unique.  We call them our rare gems, and this week we are putting them together in curated packs of four for you to enjoy.  These packs are fabulous for fades and shawls, blankets, hats, baby items, you name it.  See below for a sneak peak at a few of our Rare Gem packs as well as a few pattern suggestions.

 

 

 

Pre Order - Winter Worsted

This week's pre-order yarn is our 100% superwash merino Winter Worsted. This is an extremely soft yarn that has been spun with a slight twist, so it knits up into a very warm, cosy fabric with lots of drape.  I recently used it to knit up a Hipster shawl (pattern by Joji Locatelli, see link below) which I highly recommend (I used the Neptune colourway).  I'm also knitting up a Weekender sweater by Andrea Mowry using this yarn as well.  Our pre-order colours this week are listed below, as are a few pattern recommendations.  Please remember that pre orders are only available to purchase for 24 hours, so you have until Saturday 9am Sydney time to place your orders.

Bliss DK Pre Orders

On Friday we will also be debuting our new Pre Order series which allows you to order unlimited number of skeins in your choice of colourways.  The only catch is, the pre-order listings are only available for 24 hours, closing at 9am Sydney time on 22nd June.  We have done this to speed up the process of ordering from our suppliers, and means you'll get your yarns sooner!  Pre orders are now available in the shop, orders will take around 3 weeks to ship.  The base this week is Bliss DK, and we have chosen sixteen popular colourways:
