This week, we have themed our update around Caitlin Hunter's newest design Navelli. 

We have dyed up three colour combinations that we think would look fabulous knit up in this design.  The yarn we have chosen is our lovely single-ply Uptown Sock, which looks wonderful knit up in colourwork. Please note that these yarns will be sold separately, giving you the option to create your own colour palette.  We are also super excited to be releasing new colourways!  Most of the colourways for the Navelli are new so, if you would like to buy them for other projects, that is totally fine too!  Here are our combos:

Landscapes are so inspiring. From urban cityscapes to rural and coastal vistas, there are interesting and unique colours everywhere.  We will be taking colour inspiration from landscape photography and using them to put together colourways for this club. 

The Landscapes Club will run for three months - from June to August.  You can choose to receive one or two-skeins each month, the base we have chosen for this club will be our popular Top Draw Sock.  Each club package will be shipped at the end of the month, when we will also reveal our inspiration photo via Instagram.  Colourways will be a mix of subtle and bright; each colour will be speckled and will not be repeated.

Club sign-up goes live on Wednesday 15th May at 9am AEST.  We are so excited to start, we hope you can join us!

This week, we are adding our new El Merino sock yarn to the shop, dyed in all of our new speckled colourways.  El Merino is a super-soft, sock-weight yarn that is 100% extra-fine merino.  It's perfect for pretty much everything: shawls, socks, garments - you name it!  I've cast on the lovely Kahurangi Cowl by Aroha Knits (see above) using the South Pacific colourway.  It's seriously squishy and lovely!

This Friday we will be taking pre orders for our Bliss (20/80 merino/cashmere) and Voyage (100% superwash merino) DK bases.  You can order any one of our current colourways and we will dye them for you on either of the two bases.  Because this is a dye to order, orders will ship in around 2 weeks. We will be posting some pattern and colour ideas on IG/FB this Friday, this will also be sent out to our newsletter subscribers (so join up if you haven't already!).

This week we have been having a ball putting together kits for the wonderful Exploration Station Shawl by Stephen West.  This shawl is a very fun project. Not only does it allow you to play with colour but also with texture!  You'll find simple brioche, slipped stitches, lace and basic garter all combined with colour work.  It really is an amazing design.

This week we have six Exploration Station Kits to choose from:

Each kit includes four skeins of Top Draw Sock, two that are 100g and two 50g.  The two 100g skeins are used for colour A and D, and the two 50g are used for colour B and C as per pattern.  The pattern can be purchased separately over on Ravelry.

We are also adding a selection of Top Draw Sock in some of our new colourways.  Feel free to mix your own shawl combo, or pick one or more colours for a lovely new cardigan or top. There are fourteen colours to choose from in a mix of neutrals, brights, lights and dark shades.

We have just received a huge shipment of our lovely Bliss DK, and it couldn't have come at a better time with the release of the Soldotna Crop by Caitlin Hunter.  This week, we have dyed up kits especially for this lovely design using our super-special Merino Cashmere base.  The Soldotna Crop uses four colourways to create a beautiful, all-over standard colourwork design.  We had a ball putting together colour combinations using our new colourways; here they are:

As you may have heard, we have recently switched over to a new method of dyeing which has meant developing a new range of colourways.  This week we decided to dye up all of our new colourways (there are currently 45!) and make them into mini-sample kits.  Here they are:

 

Mini skeins are great for so many things, especially adding contrast to heels and toes of socks and creating beautiful granny stripe blankets.  Each mini kit includes 5 skeins of our 20g Mini Skein yarn.  There will be nine kits to choose from, all of which are available in the shop Friday 8th March at 9am AEST.  To find out what time this will be in your neck of the woods, click here.

We've fallen head over heels for Joji Locatelli's latest pattern, the Odyssey Shawl, which she has kindly made available to the knitting community for free!  This wonderful shawl requires three skeins of DK to create a modern, colour-block effect that features easy garter stitch and subtle-yet-stylish lace bands.  It's seriously gorgeous!

KAL

We are currently running an Odyssey Shawl KAL over on our Ravelry group.  Please come and join us!  The KAL will run until the 24th April; cast on whenever you like!  If you would prefer to use stash yarn that is totally fine, just make sure one skein is a Skein yarn :D

As always there will be prizes!  We will be giving away a few shawl kit sets. Each set includes three full skeins of Top Draw Sock in the winners' choice of colours PLUS a set of Katrinkles stitch markers. To be eligible for a prize, please post a picture of your finished shawl in the Ravelry group KAL thread before 25th April.

You may have heard that we are introducing brand new colourways to the shop.  These colours are saturated, speckled, fun to dye and wonderful to knit.  They are dyed differently to our previous colours, which gives them their unique appearance. I am so looking forward to building on these colourways over the next year.  With that said, we have decided to retire all of our old colourways and concentrate on this new dye method.  But don't worry, our old colourways will still make an appearance from time to time. 

So far we have 18 new colourways (with more on the way!). You can view them all here.  All of these colours will be available for pre-order on our Voyage DK and Winter Worsted bases this Friday.  We have also dyed up a big batch of our Classy sock base in a few of these new colourways, which would be ideal for shawls and garments. These will also be in the shop Friday.

This week, we have been dyeing up all of our in-stock DK yarns and then pairing them with our super-fun, faux-fur pom-poms to create hat kits which will be heading in to the shop this Friday.  We have also topped up our stock of pom-poms, so you can purchase them separately as well.  Our pom-poms attach with metal snaps, meaning you can simply snap off and clip on different pom-poms to match whatever you are wearing.  Grab a handful and have fun mixing and matching them to your hats!  If you are looking for pattern inspiration, check out our custom hat search over on Ravelry!

We will also be adding a few of our newest Sweater Collection colourways dyed onto our Sport base.  We will have sweater quantities available in four colours; check them out below.

This Friday we are offering pre-orders of our new Sweater Collection colourways on three of our favourite sweater bases Skein Sport, Winter Worsted and Voyage DK. 

Sweater knitting is huge at the moment.  I certainly have caught the bug; it's all I want to knit!  That's why I've come up with this new collection of colourways: I wanted colours that were predominantly semi-solid or tonal, with just a hint of added colour.  Nothing too flash or overpowering, just subtle little pops of colour.  I'm now addicted to dyeing these colourways and have currently developed 17, with more on the way!

We understand that buying hand-dyed yarns for sweaters is a HUGE financial commitment.  Sometimes yarns just don't knit up as we planned.  They can look one way in a skein and yet knit up very differently.  That is why ALL of our Sweater Collection colourways will be presented as swatches, so you will know exactly what you are getting and how it will knit up.  Plus, don't forget to use your Skein reward points to get discounts off your orders!  If you haven't joined, make sure you sign up for an account. You will then be automatically registered for the points program and can start collecting those points!

This week, we are releasing a new colourway collection specifically designed for sweater knitting.  The Sweater Collection colourways, when viewed at a distance, look like normal semi-solid colours but, once you look closer, you can see they are in fact made up of lots of tiny speckles.  This effect is very subtle - great for sweater knitting - but as a whole gives the fabric lovely depth.  To show you how this effect works, I swatched up one of our new colourways, Worn Denim.  The top picture shows how this colourway looks from afar and then up close.

 

If you zoom in further, you'll be able to see all those tiny speckles. 

These colourways are created using a new micro-speckle technique that distributes tiny particles of dye all over the yarn.  We are super happy with these colourways and are currently in the process of developing more.
