This week, we are introducing a revised edition of our MCN Sock base!  Our previous MCN was a very tightly plied yarn. We've actually improved on this and now have a much softer ply that also has a silky sheen - wow, does it feel soft.  We've dyed our new and improved MCN Sock up in lots of fun colours (above is Jellyfish).

 

We have also been dyeing up lots of Winter Worsted (did someone just say The Weekender sweater by Andrea Mowry?).  Again, we have created a wonderful array of colours (above is one of our newest called Flutter).

This week, we have revisited our old tonal-dye recipes to bring you an update that is wholly dedicated to these colourways.  These colours are so versatile. They add subtle variation, meaning they can be used for just about any project. 

 

 

We've dyed up sweater quantities of our tonals using our Sport and Voyage DK bases.  Colourways shown on this page are (from the top) Storm, Myrtle Creek and The Orient.

This week we are super thrilled to be adding a brand new yarn to our shop!  Let us introduce Polwarth Sock, a wonderful blend of 100% superwash New Zealand Polwarth.  This yarn has a beautiful luster and knits up with fantastic stitch definition.  Even though it is not a super soft yarn (it's very similar to BFL) it will soften with washing.  Perfect for socks, shawls, hats, gloves and garments.

 

 

We've dyed up a ton of Polwarth Sock for it's debut this Friday, including the one shown which is OMG.   Information on yardage and price can be found on our yarns page.  We are totally smitten with this yarn, we hope you love it to.

This week we are super excited about the release of Joji Locatelli and Veera Valimaki's newest collaboration, Interpretations Vol. 5.  We were thrilled to have our yarn (Top Draw Sock) used for one of the designs called Dynamic Trio Shawl by Joji.  This shawl uses three colourways that were created especially for this design and will become a part of our new colourway collection which is also being released this week.

 

 

The colourways are (from L-R) Tango, Flight and Sway.  We will have a ton of these colourways in the shop this Friday.  Interpretations Vol 5 is set to be released on the 1st March.

 

 

As mentioned, we will be releasing our new Autumn/Spring colourways this week.  The new colour collection will be revealed Thursday night and will include new and returning favorites.  We cant wait to show you!  We've been posting spoilers over on Instagram, including the picture above of Jellyfish and Swoon.  A selection of  new colourways will be available in the shop update on our popular yarn base Top Draw Sock.  We have consciously curated our update to include trio's of colours that we think would look amazing as a Dynamic Trio Shawl.  We hope you like them!

Just a quick news post this week!  We will be adding a heap of Uptown Sock in a mix of semi-solid and speckled colours (pictured above in the colourway OMG).  There will also be Daintree available as custom order yarn, which means you can select your colours and we will dye them for you!  This base has been very popular due to the beautiful Timely Cardigan designed using this yarn by Libby Jonson.

We've had a lot of people asking for Classy, our lovely single-ply yarn which is a superb blend of Merino and Silk.  Well, the wait is over!  We've dyed up a nice mix of colours that include speckles and tonals, as well as a new colourway Sakura.

 

Sakura is one of the new colourways in our upcoming Spring / Autumn collection.  We thought we might add it in to this week's update as a little tease of things to come.  This colourway won't be available to order as a custom colour until the 1st of March, when we release our new season colourways.  We do have a few skeins available this week, but you might need to be quick though!

We are also adding Mini Skeins to the shop in a variety of fun, speckled colours.  As usual, we will be posting spoilers of this week's update over on Instagram.

 

 

SKEIN SPORT - CUSTOM DYED

The newest addition to our dyed to order yarn range is Skein Sport.  This wonderful 100% Superwash Merino is perfect for so many projects.  It's extremely cushy with a firm ply, meaning it's beautifully soft yet durable.  Custom-dyed yarns are available for you to order in any of our current colourways.  They take around 5-10 business days to ship.

Our featured design is the Rosales design by Nim Teasdale, using our Skein Sport in the colourways Cajun Spice, Terracotta Sun and Savannah.  Check out our other recommended patterns for this yarn here!

This week, we have been busy creating some new tonal and speckled colourways!  We are keeping most of these a secret until Friday's update (although check out our Instagram page for spoilers).  The colourway above is one of our new speckles called Bondi (dyed onto our Uptown Sock base), and the image posted below is one of our new tonals called Freshwater Pearl (dyed onto our Merino Cashmere).

 

Our bases this week include Merino Cashmere Fingering and Uptown Sock.

 

We also have added a 'Seconds' page to the website.  Here we are listing yarns that have slight colour faults.  As these are seconds, they have been reduced by 25%; a real bargain.  We have already added a few yarns, so check them out!

 

Interpretations Vol 5

 

We are so excited to be a part of Joji and Veera's 5th-year anniversary of Interpretations: a wonderful collection of patterns designed by these two talented women.  This year, Joji has designed a beautiful shawl using our Top Draw Sock in three new colourways that were developed especially for this design.  The colourways are Sway (pale grey with light speckles), Flight (purple) and Tango (pale watermelon). 

 

 

This week, we are offering pre-release kits for the shawl. We are allowed to show you a sneak peek of the design, but otherwise it is to remain a secret until release day. 

 

 

Kits will be dyed to order and will be ready to ship in around a week.  Kits include all three colours; the pattern can be purchased separately once it has been released.  You will find them listed in our Kits section of the website on Friday.

Dye to Order Daintree

The dyed-to-order yarn this week is Daintree, our merino/bamboo/silk sock blend. The Skein Team

This week, we returned to the studio after our new year break and eagerly fired up the dye pots!  We had a lot of fun concocting ten brand-new speckled colourways for our first update of 2018, all of which will be added to the shop Friday 12th January at 9am AEST.  Without further ado, here they are!

 

Each new colourway has been dyed on a mix of bases that include:

• Uptown Sock
• Top Draw Sock
• Merino Cashmere Fingering
• Mini Skeins

You can check them all out in the shop on Friday!

We will also be adding Merino Silk Sport to our growing list of Dyed-To-Order yarns.  Here you can select any of our colourways (including all of our new speckles) in whatever quantity you need and we'll dye them up for you.  Custom orders take around 7 days to ship.

We are kicking off the new year by opening up a brand-new sock club! 

We are calling it our Inspiration Club and here's how it works:

• We will select a theme for each club. For example, this month it is Summer Holidays.
• We will put together a public mood board on Pinterest which will help to inspire our new colourway! 
• We will decide on which yarn base will best suit our club colour.
• You will get to choose how many skeins you would like for that particular month (subject to availability). 
• Club yarns will ship in 3-4 weeks (dates will be given).
• Don't worry if you miss out in January as there will be another club in a few month's time.

This month we have chosen summer holidays as our inspiration.  You can visit the mood board on Pinterest to get a feel of what colours we have in mind, OR, if you want a complete surprise then don't look! 

Our yarn base this month is Uptown Sock, our lovely single-ply sock yarn.  We are not limiting club places, so you can order as many skeins as you like. Just remember these colourways are one of a kind and will never be repeated, so make sure you order enough for your project!  Club yarns will ship from January 29th, and we will send a shipping notification as soon as your club ships so you know it is on its way!
