This week I have been dyeing up the wonderful Uptown Sock.  This single ply yarn is one of my all time favorite yarns to dye, it takes colour brilliantly and dyes like a dream.  We have a huge array of colours including two new yellow colourways called Sundress and Golden.

We've had a busy week here at Skein HQ.  As a new season is now upon us, we have updated our colourways for Winter/Summer 2018.  You can check them all out here!

Also, we have the very popular Bliss DK back in stock for custom-dyed orders.  This yarn is now available to buy in any of our new and past colourways.  Custom orders are currently taking around two weeks to process.

Lastly, we have been getting ready for this weeks update.  We will have a shop full of Top Draw Sock in lots of fun colours.  We have also put together a few more combinations for Helen Stewart's Shawl Society.

This week, we are super excited to be offering yarn for Season Three of the Curious Handmade's Shawl Society.  We were one of a handful of dyers asked by Helen Stewart to produce some alternative colour combinations for the first shawl in this series, which has the theme of The Secret Garden.

I was so taken with this theme that I put together eleven colour combinations:

Each colourway is sold separately, allowing you to select your own colour combinations.  You will need three skeins, two for the main colour, and one contrast.  The first shawl design is set for release on Thursday 31st May. 

The yarns for this update are a mix of MCN Sock and Uptown Sock. Please note you can use both of these yarns together for the shawl.

This Friday we are releasing a new shawl design called Little Arrow.  Above is a sneak peak of the design using our Uptown Sock.  The sample was knit using two new colourways: Gelato (pale with speckles) and Roller Rink (purple with speckles).  You can read more about the design on Friday (check our Ravelry shop!). 3 skeins are needed for this shawl: two for CC1 (seen as the darker colour), and one skein of the ligher colour, OR, knit the whole shawl in one colour.  Our update this week is all about the Little Arrow shawl; we will have lots of colourways we think will suit this new design.

We have a very special update planned this week, featuring a new design that is set for release on Thursday by Libby Jonson. Here's a sneak peak.

Libby used our Daintree yarn in the colourway Caramel for her gorgeous new design.  We will have Caramel in stock, as well as other colourways we think will go perfectly with this new design.  We also have a small amount of Daintree reserved for Custom Dyed Orders for those of you who wish to order other colours.  You might also want to sign up for Libby's mini mag to receive pattern alerts, news and knitting related stories as well as new-release pattern discounts.

We have planned a fun, sparkly Easter update this week.  We have a brand-new replacement for our Shimmer yarn; it has the exact specs as our old base but has a more sparkly glow.  This yarn gleams with silver stellina, making it perfect for a fun, sparkly shawl, cardigan, pullover or socks!

This week, we are introducing a revised edition of our MCN Sock base!  Our previous MCN was a very tightly plied yarn. We've actually improved on this and now have a much softer ply that also has a silky sheen - wow, does it feel soft.  We've dyed our new and improved MCN Sock up in lots of fun colours (above is Jellyfish).

We have also been dyeing up lots of Winter Worsted (did someone just say The Weekender sweater by Andrea Mowry?).  Again, we have created a wonderful array of colours (above is one of our newest called Flutter).

This week, we have revisited our old tonal-dye recipes to bring you an update that is wholly dedicated to these colourways.  These colours are so versatile. They add subtle variation, meaning they can be used for just about any project. 

We've dyed up sweater quantities of our tonals using our Sport and Voyage DK bases.  Colourways shown on this page are (from the top) Storm, Myrtle Creek and The Orient.

This week we are super thrilled to be adding a brand new yarn to our shop!  Let us introduce Polwarth Sock, a wonderful blend of 100% superwash New Zealand Polwarth.  This yarn has a beautiful luster and knits up with fantastic stitch definition.  Even though it is not a super soft yarn (it's very similar to BFL) it will soften with washing.  Perfect for socks, shawls, hats, gloves and garments.

We've dyed up a ton of Polwarth Sock for it's debut this Friday, including the one shown which is OMG.   Information on yardage and price can be found on our yarns page.  We are totally smitten with this yarn, we hope you love it to.
