Ahhh, luxury yarns!  They are so decadent, soft, silky and sublime: a pleasure to knit with, and a joy to wear.  Merino, cashmere and silk blends make beautiful shawls, wraps and garments that are highly sought after by both knitters and non-knitters alike! 

Here at the studio, it's almost impossible to stop yourself from jumping in and rolling around in a pile of these yarns. We do, however, allow a gentle smoosh; its hard not to!  Which is why this week we thought it was time to devote a whole update to these wonderful yarns!

We have selected a few of our favourite luxury yarns, each one containing a tantalizing mix of merino combined with cashmere and/or silk.  Yarns this week are Merino Cashmere Fingering, Silk Cashmere Lace, MCN DK and a brand new yarn called Cash Sock (check out our yarns page for more info).

This week's Fresh From The Dye Pot Update includes lots of Merino Cashmere Fingering, Top Draw Sock and Merino Silk Sport!  We have also been busy this week putting together a few shawl kits.  These can be used to knit those wonderful two or three colour shawls, or you could even use them for brioche!  Whatever the case, they are bright and fun and are sure to add some spice to your next project.

Speckles, speckles everywhere!  Yes, this week's Fresh From the Dye Pot Update is jam packed full of speckled yarns, including nine new speckled colourways!  These new colours all contain neutral backgrounds speckled with varying shades of the same hue.  They would be perfect for garments or projects that are needing a subtle colour pop.  As well as the new colourways, we also have added plenty of old favourites; all of course are speckled. 

Speaking of garments, we've had a huge amount of feedback with people requesting speckled sweater weight yarns.  If you're one of those people, then this is your week!  We have a huge amount of Voyage DK and Pronto (perfect for Joji Locatelli newest design Super Bulky Grandpa cardigan, which BTW would look amazing in a speckled yarn!).  Plus we have lots of MCN Sock and Uptown Sock.  This week's update will be held on Friday 22nd April at 9am AEST (that's Sydney time) - all yarns are in stock and ready to ship.

We are super excited this week to be introducing a new DK yarn to the Skein family!  Bliss has been spun with 100% extra-fine merino, and it's seriously so soft you'd swear there was cashmere in the mix!  Our wonderful mill has done a brilliant job spinning up this yarn into a crepe construction that looks a little like knitted i-cord.  This type of construction reduces pilling and will help this super-soft yarn wear much better than a simple 4ply would.  Perfect for all projects, we chose to sample knit our new yarn into a shawl, The Age Of Brass And Steam, which only took one skein of Bliss in the colourway Confetti.  It is seriously so soft and drapey we are simply in love; we know you will be too.  Bliss is available this week in our Fresh From The Dye Pot update.

This week, we have been very busy dyeing up a ton of yarn in fun bright colours to prepare for this weeks update.  This is the biggest Fresh From The Dye pot update yet - so don't miss out!  This weeks update will be held on Friday 11th March at 9am AEST, so head on over to the shop to grab your favourite yarn and colourways, all of which will be in-stock and ready to ship!  Yarns bases include our new Bliss DK, Winter, Top Draw Sock and Merino Cashmere Fingering.

Brioche, stripes and colour blocking are so hot right now.  There seems to be an endless, drool-worthy supply of new designs coming out every other day using these techniques.  So, this week we have been playing matchmaker with our variegated and speckled colourways, combining them with semi-solids and coming up with never fail colour combinations for these very designs.  Here are our matchmaker colour combinations

Depending on what you're planning to make, you can choose to mix two, three or all four colours together. Whatever you decide to do, we guarantee that these colours will match perfectly! 

Best of all, every one of these colourways are available pre-order this week on Wednesday 2nd March at 9am AEST.  If you're looking to do some matchmaking, select the colours above that are pulling on your heart strings. Then, head on over to the shop on Wednesday and place your order.  We have three bases to choose from this week:
