The Knitter's Wardrobe - Introduction To Our May Series

As makers, many of us slowly find that our wardrobes begin to fill with handmade pieces.

It rarely happens all at once. Instead, it grows little by little over time. A sweater cast on during a quiet season, a shawl finished on a long weekend, a scarf or pair of socks that somehow becomes part of everyday life.

Before long, those pieces start appearing again and again.

The cardigan you reach for on cooler mornings.

The shawl that travels everywhere with you.

The sweater that feels just right the moment you put it on.

Throughout May we'll be sharing a small series on the blog exploring the idea of the handmade wardrobe including the garments and accessories we love to make and wear.

Along the way we'll talk about the pieces that become wardrobe staples, the yarns that make garments a joy to wear, and the colours that quietly become part of our personal style.

It feels like a particularly fitting time to reflect on this, as many makers around the world take part in the annual Me Made May challenge, a celebration of wearing and appreciating the things we create by hand.

At its heart, knitting and crochet are about more than simply finishing projects. They're about the experience of making, the beauty of the materials we work with, and the quiet satisfaction of wearing something created stitch by stitch.

We hope you'll enjoy this small series with us throughout the month.
