Episode 9: Ripe Bananas and Moterbikes

June 07, 2014 0 Comments

Thanks to everyone who contacted me during the week, I always love hearing from you!  This week I'm wearing my Grace cardigan (by Jane Richmond) which I forget to mention!

In The Studio

  • I talk about my obsession with dying fibre
  • I show you a few of my new Long Colour Repeat (LCR) yarns and I briefly explain how I dye them.  I will be updating the shop with these new colourways on the 11th June at 10am Sydney time.
  • I mention our stockist Yarn Glorious Yarn who will soon have a shop full of our Merino Silk Sport, check them out here.

In the Mail

  • A cute Ravelry bag arrived
  • I also received my second skein of self striping yarn from Cleverchook, in the beautiful deciduous colourway.  I am thinking of making a pair of Stitch Surfer socks.

Works In Progress

  • Scylla socks for Paul out of my beautiful skein of Into the Whirled Ulundi sock in the colourway End of Summer.
  • Feather and Fan Comfort Shawl knit out of my new, long colour repeat yarn in the Top Draw Sock base.  My project can be seen here.
  • Shield Maiden by Emily Estrada aka Emily of the Fibre Town podcast.  I'm knitting this out of Skein DK in the Milk Opal colourway.
  • Vanilla Socks using the Opal Van Gogh colourways called Sunflowers in a Vase.  These are why the word 'banana' is mentioned in the title!
  • I show you the beginning of my mitered square blanket knit out of leftover sock yarn.  The pattern for the square can be found in this book.

Finished Objects

Spinning

  • I show off a very full bobbin of 2ply Skein Merino Silk Fiber in the colourway Beach Shack.  This is probably an aran weight yarn and was spun on my Ashford Traditional wheel.
  • I mention that I currently have a Loop batt on the wheel, the colourway called Hint of Mint (part of the Loop club)

Prize

  • I draw two winners for the first give away!
  • I announce the next podcast giveaway which is a box bag from H+T studio.  Winners choice of box bag, to enter head over to H+T Studio's etsy shop and then post your favorite item in the ravelry prize thread.  One entry per person and you must be a member of the group to be eligible for a prize.  I'll use a RNG to pick a number from the prize thread, the giveaway will be open until the 3rd July, winner will be announced in the following podcast.  Thank you to H+T Studio for their generous donation!
